We Didn't Start the Fire!

I felt that a good place to start this blog off,
was to state the fact sung loud and proud by the magnificent Billy Joel.

 "We didn't start the fire,
it was always burning,
since the world's been turning"

What fire am I talking about you ask? Not the wildfires in the west that run rampent all the time, and not the fire in history as sung about by Billy Joel,
but the fire of
THE RESTORED GOSPEL!

As a history nut and a music nut the song, "We didn't start the fire" really gets me excited. Billy Joel sings the above lyrics and oh how true thye are, and not just in historical terms!

Now let's take a step back into some history. We aren't going into the history Billy Joel highlights, but we are going to 1820. A boy named Joseph Smith wanted to know how he could find the fire. He wanted to find that eternal fire that would burn in his heart forever. Little did he understand, that the fire was "always burning, since the world was turning" that fire of the gospel was just waiting to be put back on the earth.

Joseph Smith was reading in James chapter one verse five and he said to himself,
"hey, I'm in need of some wisdom from God, I better ask Him!"
And that is just what he did.
Joseph said:
“I saw a pillar of light
exactly over my head, above
the brightness of the sun,
which descended gradually
until it fell upon me. . . .
“When the light rested upon
me I saw two Personages,
whose brightness and glory
defy all description,
standing above me in the
air. One of them spake unto
me, calling me by name and
said, pointing to the other—
This is My Beloved Son.

Hear Him!”

He was called as a prophet of God to restore the fire of the gospel to the earth!
Just as Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses were the torch bearing prophets of their time, Joseph Smith was given the Priesthood of God
or the authority to run His church here on the earth.

That's what this blog is going to center on, that fire that is here on the earth!

"We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
But when we are gone
It will still burn on and on and on and on
And on and on and on and on..."
